Alan J. Braverman,
President, CEO

Alan launched his communications career in the summer of 1991. Asked to come in and “help out” stuffing envelopes at a boutique Manhattan firm for a few days, he ended up staying 3½ years, learning the basics of public relations. Since then, his career has encompassed all aspects of PR, sales and marketing.

During his career, Braverman has managed ongoing communications programs and projects for companies large and small in a wide variety of sectors including food, healthcare, distribution/logistics, high-tech, not-for-profit, finance and economic development.

Prior to launching BCI in 2003, Braverman was vice president in the Corporate and Public Affairs practice at Edelman, the largest global independently owned public relations firm. While at Edelman, he dealt with a range of companies, governments and industries, focusing on reputation management, crisis management and economic development. Select clients included Barilla America Inc.; Kraft Foods; Henry Schein Inc.; The City of Moscow; Morgan Stanley; and Georgia-Pacific, among others.

Before joining Edelman, he was with NYPR, a Manhattan-based public relations firm focusing on high-technology clients during the peak of the Internet “boom.” While with NYPR, he developed communications strategy for a variety of Internet-related companies, earning coverage in all forms of media including broadcast, trade, business and consumer.

Earlier, Braverman was with Middleberg + Associates, where he handled the day-to-day account management for two of the agency's larger clients -- Pitney Bowes Management Services and Bank Leumi Trust Company of New York. Working with senior counselors at the firm, Braverman helped manage Bank Leumi's reputation in a time of turmoil and uncertainty. He also helped launch the first Pitney Bowes survey regarding law firms and "the paperless office" -- resulting in feature articles in every major legal trade publication.

In addition to these core accounts, Braverman played a major role on a number of other clients including Olsten Staffing Services; Theragenics Corp.; Weiss, Peck & Greer Private Equity; and Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin.

Braverman began his public relations career at a Manhattan-based boutique shop, Renee Sall Associates. He managed media relations for accounts that included Ray Ban Sunglasses by Bausch & Lomb and SonicAir Sameday Courier (later purchased by UPS), Choice Courier Systems, Saratoga Spring Water and Worldwide Weather Insurance.

Braverman earned a B.A. in psychology from Brooklyn College and also attended McGill University in Montreal, where he was born. He is a member of the American Cancer Society's Communications Advisory Board and is active in his community in Rockland County, New York, where he lives with his wife and two children.
